Hello
I just heard from a friend about old Beetle in Egypt, as he mentioned it is with suicide doors and headlights in the middle and small window (not split) in the rear, trafficators between front door and fender.
I show him picture for VW30 and he says it looks like it? is it possible to find it in Egypt? or it maybe for other VW model I don't know?
Regards

Sounds more like a Czech Tatra than a VW |

lot of cars from that era adopted streamlined designs and may be mistaken for early beetles... maybe a DKW?
or a FIAT Topolino?

What year did this tour take place? Must have been one hell of a journey. |

Hi Ashraf,
To be honest I cannot think of a scenario how would one of the early W30 prototypes could end up in Egypt. In an unlikely event one may be found in Germany or Austria or even more unlikely in the Czech Republic as these were the countries that Ferdinand Porsche took his cars to for testing or visits to family homes. He brought a whole lot of prototype cars and parts with him when he moved to Gmund, Austria. Also all of the W30 cars had been broken up for spares in 1942 and no complete cars are known to have survived.
Whatever it was that your friend saw is most likely something that resembles a W30. We all would love to see photos. |
