In a recent thread I learned one thing. “Thou shall not cap off air snorkels “.

So my question is what are the alternatives. I’d like to have the engine compartment as clean as possible. Also would like to have a clean breast plate at the rear of the engine.

1. Can I run the hoses around the back side of the fan shroud and just let the air “recycle”.

2. I’d like to replace the heater boxes with j tubes. If I push the air out through the breast plate, I don’t have as clean look.

3. What happens if I just leave the snorkels open? Presumably, it’s just pushing ambient air around.

Think he’s referring to the tin that covers the exhaust and butts up to pulley.

Assuming by "snorkels" you mean the aluminized tubes from the heater boxes, I think your best solution would be to change the heater boxes to J jubes, the "breast plate" to a 1973 "breast plate" without the holes, and a 1973 fan shroud without the ducts.

I think he is referring to the heater outlets on the fan shroud.

73 Things used a doghouse shroud without heater outlets

FYI-front refers to front of the car when seated in the car and rear is the back of the car. It is always as seated and facing forward.

Ah. Breast plate. I get it. In that case Craig has it right. New fan shroud, new breast plate.

The rear plate, the one closest to the rear of the car.

Hoping to avoid the cost of a 73 fan shroud.
