What is the difference from a mid 52 - 55 vs A style ?
I know the moulding is shorter and some A's have tailpipe cutouts.
The question is what is the 56 57 bumper differences on a 53 ?
Have 53 bumper guards and know the moulding is shorter.
I like the short fat bumper guards look, 64mm wide.
Seems like metal chrome short fat ones don't come up for sale often,
mostly aluminum 45mm wide repros.

After some research James Davies wrote in a older post this.
Original '55 bumper guards were forged aluminum with a bright dip, just like the hood handle. There's a bunch of original ones on ebay right now, though you'll have to figure out how to get them refinished. The reproductions are very nice.
Chromed steel guards were used Oct '52 through ~Apr '54. These were flimsy and rusted, so not many around anymore. They are also a slightly different shape to the aluminum ones - wider and rounder. |
