Hello all, posting in type 4 also, i have a 1.8l 412 motor in my type 3, carbureted, my mech fuel pump is on it's way out. I'm being told there are no options and have to go electric. Does that sound right? Thanks for your replies, Chris

I'd rather stay mechanical if I can.

Does it feel like it's running out of gas , there used to be a problem with the fuel pump pushrod wearing down . Have you checked fuel pressure . Also make sure the fuel vent system isn't plugged . I believe that brass plug on the pump has a small filter in there unless somebody took it out . You will need a 1972 thru 1974 bus manual for the rod length .
