... not really answering your question, BUT it appears as if all front torsion springs, p/n 111 411 027 are the same after 1-397 023, October 1951, with 8 leaves... perhaps, you can find a stout used set.

... and just because I looked everything up in my 1957 VW parts book, i'll supply all the info listed...
111 411 021, lower, 5 leaves, to ch 117 053 STANDARD 111, 112
111 411 021A, lower 5 leaves, from ch 117 054 to 138 834, lower
111 411 021A, upper and lower, 5 leaves, from ch 138 835 to 397 022
111 411 023, upper, 4 leaves, to ch 111 053, STANDARD 111.112
111 411 023A, upper, 4 leaves, from 117 054 to 138 834
111 411 027, 8 leaves, from 1-397 023, 10/1951, upper & lower

111 411 151 grub screw, qty. 6, same as bus.
111 411 155, nut for grub screw, qty 6, same as bus

... hope that helps.

They're not all the same length. Before '48 they were around 990mm and after 48' around 940mm according to Mr. Schuckenböhmer. I don't know the exact lengths.

If you need springs, Hans Schuckenböhmer can make the leaf spring torsion bars for you.

Actually the difference is 3 cm, the early beam has 98 cm and later 95 cm leaves.

Do you perhaps know the sizes of the individual leaves?
Would it possible to take two leaf spring stacks of a later beam and just cut a few leaves off or leave out a few leaves?

I think it takes some effort for Hans to respond in English. I sent him my last e-mail in English (no response for 10 days) and then I sent him a reminder and told him that he could also reply in German and I got an answer within a day...

Anyway.

He has one later bar in stock and two pre 48 bars. He says he is going to produce 4 leaf torsion bars in both lengths, but he has not calculated a price yet.

I personally would really want 2x 5 leaf bars (like original) and not 4 leaf bars, so I 'll probably ask him if he is willing to make them too. If not I am going to source them or have them made myself.

Are the size required for Nov 1947 available. I believe they are longer ones

Mine measure 96 cm between the centers of the screw holes.

I believe the Top tube has 5 leaves/springs and bottom tube has 4 leaves/springs

I did some checking in Prog. Refinements and they are supposed to be longer in 1947 than they are sometime in Aug 49
