Long an admirer of Ahwahnee’s immaculate engine bay teaser pics (along with owner added labeling)
I was finally inspired enough to give mine a go. It still had a bunch paint spray residue covering it. I’ve never done this before for my previous cars. What of this curse that haunts me night and day. 🤪
( TIA, Don’t look at the alternator )

Lol, I wish! I live on a dirt road and even with custom made side tins my engine bay gets filthy immediately. The only time it looked that good was right after I did my suby conversio
n.
edit: I actually just washed and detailed the van yesterday . Thought about the engine/ bay and that was about all. |

What do you guys use to clean your engine and engine bay? I just got back from Mexico and I went to give it a nice cleaning. I have a 2.2 Subaru engine. Thanks. |

Funny that the thread below this is:
"Electrical Issues (so dumb for washing engine)"
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=699021
Always be sparing with water and liquids. Water likes to creep into electrical components you don't want it to. Don't ask me how I know... _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

Yup. I used a very light spray of water to wash off the cleaner. Shut the batteries off. Actually had no run off which I was glad for. Stuck cardboard and sheets underneath to catch thup gunk
Turned the key and was relieved. _________________ 83.5 233K. GW 2.3, SS exhaust, My German Frau named her Stefi |

I saw the first pic and though, "That's cool. I should clean my engine." Then read the next thread and thought, "Maybe not." _________________ 87 syncro tintop

Those in the know understand how much work you put into getting all that stuff ready to paint. Great job! _________________ Casey--

Since the TDI engine hose down challenge is all the rage these days, I thought I'd step up and take the challenge.
