This is the door sticker vin on a 1974 ghia convertible. The beginning of the vin number starts with a 15 instead of 14 as Ghia's normally start with. The rest of the number matches the vin plate in the truck and chassis.

Whats going on here? let me know.

I'm assuming your saying the 5 doesn't match the pan and trunk vin tag. My 71 has a miss printed number on the door jam sticker too. The pan, trunk tag and dash tag all match. Then all but one number matches the sticker. All i think it is is a miss print.

No, but it makes it a potential HUGE headache for some poor soul in the future who needs to title it in a State that comes out to the vehicle and checks VIN numbers in multiple locations..........

Unfortunately Florida does vin inspections on all out of state transfers. I will have to have a police officer come out to check the vin numbers. I’m hoping that I can reason with them on the number.

Yup. I live in Saint Johns county, FL (North of St Augustine) and I had to have a sheriff's Dept. Offices come to the house to do the VIN check. Show them the Dash tag, and the trunk plate and let him ask to see the others. The officer that checked mine had no idea there were others beyond the dash tag, which in my case was in a zip-lok bag.

Good luck
Emil

The car is titled to the miss printed vin# on the door jam. The metal under hood vin plate and the pan# both start with 14...........

Lets see how the officer that does the vin check wants to handle it?
