I know this has been covered, but I haven't been able to successfully identify my wiper motor with the information I was able to find.

Thanks!!

It is out of my 65 kombi, which had no M plate. So any help is appreciated.

1961-64. Not correct for 1965. Are you sure you have a 65 model bus??

Well that's the problem. Not sure. No title, no M plate. Bought it from skinner classics. He swore up and down it was a 65. My buddy swore it was a 65 after much work. Not really sure how to tell the difference. Nobody has said anything on my build thread.

The Vin matched on the fresh air box and engine bay. The sled had to be cut since it was rusted out bad.

ViN is

23 1319458

"23" is probably the model, which is kombi.

"1319458" shows as JUNE64 build.

Here is an image of that. Follow the line of the shock absorber upward from below the axle tube. Rubber snubber is on top of the axle tube and above that on the body is the plate the snubber hits when heavily loaded and hits a bump.

The 23 / model number is not part of the VIN for a '64 bus.

I would think the VIN, which should be located on the VIN plate, is
1 319 458.

Yes, that is 61-64 wiper motor; a 65 wiper motor is different.

Nice kombi from the pics in your gallery. Nice fade. Very Happy

While not correct, that wiper should fit without issue. The '65 motor has three spades and as far as I know the only difference is that it is self parking.

It sounds like it [is] the correct wiper motor, since the VIN indicated it was a late '64 bus, so I think it is now a non-issue, unless they changed motor to the '65 type in June '64.

A pleasant surprise on the year, maybe? June is definitely still a '64, not a '65...

I suppose it is a good surprise. I've been thinking it was a 65 since I got it in January. I've been trying to read up some of the differences since I know they made some changes in 65. I need to amend my title, so we will see how that goes lol. I have to find a 12v conversion for this wiper motor too. WW is sold out the last I checked.

Check here: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php...all=Search or maybe ebay. They run about the same price as WW. Good luck!
