Hey all. Say, what color did the factory paint the inside of the headlight buckets? I scored a bunch of split headlight buckets/parts a little while back and I'm going to put 'em through the bead blast cabinet to clean 'em up real nice then paint them. I'm glad I've got a fully assembled piece, 'cause I might never get one together otherwise. Why'd VW make 'em so complicated with those crazy spring wires and stuff. Every time I handle the assembly, I'm all freaked out that the glass is going to pop out. Is there an exploded diagram somewhere I can check out to make sure mine are together corectly? "Oh yea", how the heck does the speedo come out anyway? Thanks, -K- _________________ '74 Westy

my headlight buckets are painted grey. as for the speedo, if its a 67, there is 2 screws that you have to unscrew to get it out. it pushes down when the screws are out. i think the speedo comes out the same way all the way back to just after the barndoor buses but im not sure. _________________ josh, AKA "the infamous josh"

Thanks Josh. I've got those two screws out and the speedo will rotate slightly. Someone brush painted the dash black at some point (pride in workmanship) and I suspect the paint around the bezel is what's holding it in. I'm going to cut around the bezel with exacto knife and see if that doesn't free it. Later, -K- _________________ '74 Westy

Inside of the headlight buckets were the same color as the bottom half of the bus.

Hey Andrew. I'm actually talking about the removable assembly with the glass lens and adjusters etc. Hey, is that the 914 for sale in the background? Later, -K- _________________ '74 Westy
