I bought reproduction door handles from Wolfsburg West and have had nothing but problems with them. I believe what is happening is the button under the handle that gets pressed when the handle is opened keeps sliding under the metal that presses it over time. Rather than keep messing with it I would like to get my original handles repaired and re-chromed. Can anyone recommend a place that will rebuild and re-chrome the original handles? I saw an ad for splitpartsunlimited/Ricardo in Argentina but wanted to see if there was anyone in the US offering the same services. It looks like Ricardo has excellent reviews though so I may end up shipping the handles off to him. Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

Charles Sihilling Metal Polish (714-543-7051) in Santa Ana CA was recommended to me by a concours restorer. No experience with them myself though...

Most of the handles that are posted are pitted and would need to be re-chromed. Or the handles that are clean are reproduction. I could always hold out and wait for a good set to be posted but I need a set now. |
