Where can you get high quality braided fuel lines? I’m asking because I had power loss on my 2002 golf tdi. Ran be software and showed a boost problem. Checked over the car and some of the braided German vacuum lines were literally split and I had just changed them two years ago. The original vw lines lasted 15 years. Got me to thinking about the fuel lines for our bugs. I just want a top quality braided line. |

If you want to go the AN rout you can get them from the usual suspects like jegs or summits. _________________ Andrew Kirby |

When you said braided I thought stainless steel, like the FI systems in some of those old rabbits ect.
Now I realize you meant cloth braided. Bel-Metric is a good source of all things metric.

Thanks for that source. What is the correct hose for the carb to fuel pump? What diameter? |

Nor familiar with the brand mentioned, but I am pretty much over using the "German" braided hose. I have got it from several reputable vendors and its usually crapping out in a couple years. And we are only at a 10% ethanol gas here. Have been just buying bulk spools of regualr hose from my FLAPs. Better results so far. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

lined hose, rated SAE 30R9 is the way to go, resists todays government mandated fuels. the new fuels cost more, deliver lower mpg, can pollute more when production is taken into account, and can be destructive to old car fuel systems, risk of leaks, and fires. speaking of which, read link below on safety wires and engine fires!

Same here. If regular fuel hose is good enough for my modern car, it's good enough for my bug. Unless the original look is what you are going for, I see no reason to use the braided hose. Modern fuel hose lasts longer and is designed for modern ethanol fuels, and is readily available. I do understand those who want to keep their bugs "original", and if that's what you are going for, great, because that is admirable. Mine is all original *where practical*. |

My spool is from Carquest rated SAE J30R7 I think the part number is CQ24060. Its nothing magical 1/4" ID fuel hose....BUT this is not rated for fuel injection. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.
