Trying to resurrect this van. Took the van for a drive and after about 3-4 miles at around 35-40 mph, the van was acting like the brakes were being applied. another 1/4 mile to get to a spot where I can turn around and the van won't take off from a stoplight (I was popular!). I tried giving in more gas (a LOT more) and it moved about 3 inches, then the engine died.
Was able to drop it into neutral and tried to push it out of the roadway but couldn't, van would not be moved (Yes, the e-brake was released). After a few minutes rest I was then able to push the van to the side.
A bit later I was able to get it back home, with the van feeling like it was dragging near the end of the drive.
New/rebuilt trans time or could this be something simpler? |

I had a similar situation with a 6 speed O1E. Ended up being failed diff bearings.
I would suggest jacking the van up and supporting on jack stands and running the van in gear and have a listen for odd noises. |

I would start with the brakes, normally if the these transaxles fail they will not just start woking again after only a few minutes of cooling. I suspect even thou your handle may have been released you have a bigger issue with the brakes. |
