My rear drums get rusted to brake shoes, when it sits in the wet winter. I have to rock it back and forth to get them freed up. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Lots of threads on this:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/search.php?searc..._chars=200
This is common after car wash or rain, and then engaging the emergency brake. The shoes rust to the drum. It can take a surprising amount of force to free them! In the future, leave it in gear, maybe block the wheels, but don't put the parking brake on.
Banging on the drum at the right point, and brute-force popping it in gear, are two common approaches. Rather than repeat them all here, I suggest you scan through these and choose the best method for your particular cause and situation. |
