I still have the original rubber seals on my van The rubber appears to be in good shape. However, when I wash the van, the black from the rubber bleeds on to the paint when I wipe it dry resulting in black streaks.

Short of replacing all the rubber, are there any recommended rubber conditioners/restorers I should try?

Hi

Hard to believe 35-year old rubber seams are in good shape! Can you post some pictures?

Mine do the same thing. It's aging. Have had it from other older vehicles.
You can help keep the rubber in good condition with different products. I use "303", but there are other cheaper products like "Back to Black"

After washing the van, treat the seals. Keep the stuff off the paint.

gummi pflege or straight glycerine from the pharmacy might do the trick. New german seals are always a good alternative at this point.

I've been told the wiping and cleaning the window seals with lemon pledge helps. Give that a try.
