Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of purchasing a 1954 deluxe samba right-hand drive. I am trying to find a 'private investigator' that specializes in researching the background of historic vehicles.
I have the birth certificate and the datasheet from the Stiftung AutoMuseum. I would love to find all the people that have owned the bus in its life and its journey from production in '54 until now.
would anyone out there please help point me in some directions =) |

Is the bus in Aus? Is so I'd start with the members on DSK.com. They'd know of every 23 BD in Australia I'd reckon.
all the best

Daniel, chances are it's a known bus.
There are around 25 known (genuine) surviving rhd Barndoor Deluxe.
Stating the VIN would probably yield quick results on at least the more recent history of the bus.
If you are dead set on the bus, maybe you'd want to complete the deal first.
Tricky one, bacause it's likely to be a lot of cash. Do your research/due diligence!
Obtaining ownership history will depend on having some previous owner details, and probably the Government Vehicle Licensing/Registration system & rules of the country where it was first sold. _________________ -StockRocks- |

Thank you Split Nolan for the link to the Barndoor registry.
I have a photo of the Datasheet and Birth Certificate stating type 244, Righthand drive which conflicts with the Barndoor registry?
I have emailed Stiftung AutoMuseum to get clarification.
Either way, I believe any conflicts in history such as this seriously affect sale value after it is restored. Is that correct?
**EDIT**
I have attached all the photos I hav

Nice project but i bet you had to pay silly money for it.
First point of call as to previous owners,I would suggest you contact Gary Collis at Wolfsburg Automotive in Victoria as he was the previous owner and he had it for many many years, maybe 30 +,waiting for the day, untill tragedy forced its new ownership.
Good luck, you will need the right people on board if this is your first project?. |
