Prototype
JEG 4x4
A JEG is a Brazilian made VW Jeep. This one is the only 4x4 one.
There were about 3 4x4 prototypes built around 1978. This may be the only 4x4 Jeg in the world. Oh yeah, did I say it only has 358 kilometers on it.
Today I got to go 4 wheeling in it

This car was featured in Hot VW in April 1981 ( I need one if anyone has one ) and again in 1984. The current owner purchase it in 1986 and it has been in his collection since. It was taken to a local VW show once and that's the only time it's been seen in public since '86.
There were three prototypes built for evaluation. One went to Europe, one the US and one stayed in Brazil. The others have vanished, this is the survivor. _________________ Brian O'Kelly

Sorry for bad English, I do not speak English. Jegs These really are very rare even here in Brazil. But there is a single copy 4x4 and diesel in Brazil. So I find it put on entry link here. |

Cool little vehicle. Begging the question, since I'm not familiar with its history: is it the one that came to the US, the one that went to Europe, or the one that stayed in Brazil? _________________ Semi-actively looking for a Beetle... |

I guess I should have been a little more specific.
This is the car brought to the U.S.
Here are over 100 photos of the JEG 4x4

Looks like it's been here a while, too, based on the blue plate. Also looks like it's a hell of a lot of fun to drive. _________________ Semi-actively looking for a Beetle... |

That looks to have very similar running gear to the Type 2 T2 (Bay window) Syncro prototype.
This was at Syncro 25 in Germany and it was very interesting looking underneath.
I'm not sure how much power the knuckle joints could take in regard to CV joints or even what their angle limit is.
Has anyone got any info on this type of driveshaft?

Interesting. One of the other 4x4 JEGS has surfaced! Do you have any photos of it. I would really appreciate it if you could track any info down about it. _________________ Brian O'Kelly
