|

So I'm trying to put a stock tape deck from an 02 golf in my 82 Caddy and can get the red led blinking and load/ eject tapes, but it won't actually power up... I assume the s contact and/ or alarm wires want some juice, but 12v doesn't do the trick. Here's the link to the radio diagram I'm working with. I know this is an odd choice, but I have my reasons...
Thanks in advance!

S would be power when key is in the ignition to keep the radio live
alarm as I recall is just a "pass thru" for the alarm circuit (think Christmas lights, when one burns out, or in this case disabled it would trigger the alarm)
does this need a code? if it does, you need it. the radio should power on with + and - hooked to it. if not, it's dead most likely
display should light up and say CODE or have 00000 across the screen...possibly SAFE, can't recall. _________________

Thanks for the correction. I used to be a nice guy, then I ruined it by exposing myself to the public. |

Awesome... so from the diagrams I've looked at the alarm does look like a pass thru. I am guessing that it shouldn't need any connection then, eh? |
