So I ran this by a guy with an electrical engenering degree and he says why the relay? He said the sw/button can handle the starter current That got me thinking, the starter button is only momentary and isn’t used when wipers and horn etc are also sucking juice and all those devices that are on the 15/54 circuit to the switched 12v circuit can’t be drawing that much since the stock wire is pretty small
He told me this would work fine: Thoughts?

'B' The LAPS sells 20amp toggle switches that have a built-in light. Simplify the circuit a little more. When you turn the toggle switch 'on' the handle lights up. With method 'B' the pushbutton can be rated as low as 1amp and the wire gauge can be 18 or even smaller. 12gauge isn't needed. Then again you may want a bigger target for the finger and a higher amp button will be bigger but it doesn't have to be 35amp. When you are connecting the pushbutton to a ground 'source' it could be the mounting of the button itself. That is if your panel is made of metal and mounted to the body. Take the wire and put a ring crimp that has a hole the size of the threaded part of the button and put the ring over it then put the button thru the panel and tighten up or under one of the panels mounting to the body screws one less wire to run. If you mount these switches in the dash all the wiring is made even simpler. Cool
