What do we do when we destroy a window winder? Can we just buy a Universal Window Winder and use that? Anyone done this?

I bought some cheap window cranks from GoWesty. I expect a year of life for a $4 crank.

GoWesty has some nice ones for $40

Sweet!
So I guess that bugs, rabbits, golfs, bays, and vanagons all share the exact same size attachments for these winders? They are all interchangeable?

Can somebody post the part number for the heavy duty Golf/Jetta winders?

Try 1H0837581DB41

https://www.google.com/search?q=1H0837581DB41&...p;ie=UTF-8

Good crank - even the brown ones hold up indefinitely (or at least 9 years so far for mine).

Got a couple of new ones for $1USD each! OK, they are totally plastic - but work fine Smile

Be careful. These also have cheap Chinese screws. After one of the cranks broke, the screw head broke off also on removal. My passenger side has been crankless for a year due to a failed extraction attempt.

I use the Empi wooden ones on all of my vans, I put a M5 stainless allen bolt instead so it stays shiny and a drop of loctite to avoid over tightening them, easier to operate especially with thicker or warped door cards.
Solid!

I think these are later, MkIII ones that mount differently and won't work. You need ones from a second generation Golf/Jetta.
