Hi Stan!
How the hell are ya? Long time no see!
Despite the hot daytime temp forecasts (and it was hot) I drove my 1967 SO-42 Campmobile to/from the Funfest in Effingham, IL from my home on the west side of St. Louis. About a 2 1/2 hour drive in the slow lane joyfully cruising along at 55 mph with my original Safari windshield cracked open about 2" for some great cooling effect. The evening temps cooled down into the 70s, so all of us camping right on the show field site enjoyed nice sleeping weather. Very nice turn out for the show, a fairly big swap meet, and I spent a whole $4 there and got four $1 items, nicely underpriced!
There was a Veterans Festival going on there at the same time, and I got to wipe an item off my "bucket list" this past weekend! I got a 10 minute ride in a nicely restored and maintained 1962 vintage Huey "B" model Vietnam era helicopter. I sat in the open right side gunners position for the ride and the experience was AWESOME! I almost did it twice!
Thanks to the nice and very accommodating folks at Mid-America Motorworks for the great festivities and all their hospitality last weekend. I can't wait until next year to attend again! Mike and Laurie, you and your friendly staff are the BEST!
