I recently got a Vanagon and testing everything out (which i should've done more thoroughly before i bought it). on the drive home i was messing with all the switches and noticed the windshield fluid didn't work. no big deal. add fluid/change the pump/clear the nozzle. i opened the front grille to poke around and noticed a hose was cut. everything i've been reading about the nozzle hose is that it's a pain to reroute. can someone confirm this is the nozzle hose.

Yes that is the line to your drivers side nozzle. You can use the existing line as a fish line for the new one. A wire taped to the new line will work also. Routing to the reservoir will be a bit of a chore but very doable. I think you will have to drop the tank to make the connection. You may might also be able to couple the two original lines together with a fitting but you will effect the volume of fluid if you use a coupler. It’s probably worth the effort to just replace the old lines. They tend to get brittle and lose there elasticity. Now would also be a good time to install dual sprayer nozzles. A great improvement over stock. |

Thank you so much. Are there any diagrams showing the routes of the hoses? _________________ 1984 Vanagon GL |

I’m sure the Bentley has some info. I am away from mine at the moment otherwise I would check for you. The tank is under your left foot and you should be able to trace things from there, though the tank is stuffed up in between the frame and is not all that easy to get to. Sorry, my memory is a little foggy on the specifics. At least you know where the tank is and where the nozzles are so now you can find the route in between. |

The easiest way is to pull the dash and run new hoses making sure they don't get hung up in the wiper mechanism.

Dave, why can't the OP just remove the nozzles outside the front end and replace the tubes then. Why remove the dash? This is similar to replacing the nozzles with the two squirter version, no dash removal then. _________________ Dave O

so this is a new vanagon to me. i went under the van yesterday and wow the fluid reservoir is just plain missing. so that's good news for me because i don't have to route hose anymore. i can route it however i want.
my only question is where does the passenger side hose drop into? _________________ 1984 Vanagon GL |
