I think it fits on the forward cargodoor in between the ply and the door over the lock? |

That's correct, it goes here:
Mine is removable as well as this one pictured (another picture attached). _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches

I wonder why all Westfalia-bound buses didn’t have that piece spot welded in, like Todd’s.
Maybe if someone drove their non-Westy bus to get outfitted at the the Booyah camper upgrade Westy factory... some loose forward cargo door latch trim pieces needed to be on-hand? Hmmm
What’s your m-code plate look like? _________________ aka: Evan

It goes on the thin edge of the door... right where the latch is.... and provides a place to screw the wood panels to.
Yours is removable... the green one isn’t. _________________ aka: Evan

For the count: My '65 factory so-42 has the screw-mount version. In sexy pigeon blue. And for the rest of us- if you see one on a guy's $1 swap tarp- buy it! _________________

Huh. Going to check on my '65. I don't remember ever seeing it. Interesting.
<edit>
Well, my bus is down to a shell(pulled apart many years ago). There are screw holes that appear to be for its attachment, but it's hard to tell. Great, one more bit of unattainium to acquire ;-P |

Thanks guys. My bus is a Westfalia coded home market supplied but with US M430 American export equipment. As it was home market it had the unusual brown/yellow plaid upholstery that was covered very poorly when it wore out with the usual mustard vinyl.

liking the plaid- vinyl is practical but like the look of plaid. BBT was repopping that plaid a while back not sure if they are still doing that.
Here is an ad for some of the scraps

Here is the AD for the BBT fabric https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2080547
If you look carefully you will notice that it is not the same as the so34 fabric which as a blue/violet strip in it. I think yours is similar to the early bay Gold Brown fabric. There are a few versions of this fabric not all of them are reproduced. Its nice heavy duty fabric, not cheap... but you get what you pay for. |
