Oprn, do u even own a Turboed air cooled bug/rail? all I even hear about is some ol' turbo 'bunny'

No I don't but that could change as my rail is due for an engine rebuild. The street buggy would be more likely to get the turbo though. It runs really sweet with the Webers but I am getting a little tired of how quickly the dirt off the rear tires clogs up the air cleaners. It's a half a day's job to remove the carbs to clean the air cleaners, put it back together and sync the carbs again. Not enough room to get the air cleaners off without removing the carbs.

This 924 turbo with a DCOE mounted in the center would be a pretty good match and air cleaner maintenance much easier. The Webers could go on the rail where there is much more room for air cleaners.

Not sure what I am going to do with the Bunny yet. It doesn't like gas so likely not go back to a Weber on it, just stick with the Impco carb. It's easier to get propane locally than premium fuel.

Just dreaming out load...

Nothing wrong with dreaming out loud. Always sparks good conversation.

This might be a little off topic but what sort of propane tank do you use for a car? Where does it go? Is it like forklift tanks? How many miles do you get to a tank?

Generally forklift tanks are not used, tanks of various shapes and sizes are available to mount permanently in the vehicle. The one I used was designed to fit in the spare tire well of a Ford Granada Wagon. I cut the spare tire well out of the Rabbit and dropped it in.

Range is about the same as the stock tank, maybe a bit more.

I haven't posted in a little bit and I made a few changes Laughing . Too much to type at once but in summary I sold my turbo 1915 here on the samba Dec 2019, bought a J30A1 Honda V6 and drove it for about a year. Then bought Nichols Fab boxed lower A-arm kit early this year. I cut off my front beam, sold it complete to a neighbor, and then welded it all in. I finished it in September and have been driving it since. Next up is installing the 3x5 micro stub trailing arms I just had made yesterday.

I think these pics are in chronological order...

What ECU are you using? How hard was the programming...or is it just stock? Ive considered Honda engines...but a buddy has HPTuners so it makes Chevy an easy choice.

I'm running the stock Honda ECU. I bought the engine, harness, and ECU out of a running sandrail for less than half the price I sold the VW engine for.

It rides and drives great! 100% worth the $ and time.
I'll be out in Glamis Jan 7th weekend with it
