|
|
I just purchased the RMW aluminum expansion tank and have installed it. Unfortunately, I did not get any instructions. The original tank has a two wire coolant level sensor while the RMW tank only has one male end for the red sensor wire. What should I do with the brown ground wire? Ground it anywhere on the chassis or the mounting screws for the tank? |

I've got it grounded on the tank mount, along with another unrelated ground. But you can ground it anywhere you like on the chassis. _________________ ~Kamz

You don't need to connect the brown wire at all - just cut it and leave unconnected

This tank comes complete with a new level sensor as well as a radiator cap that can be purchased at any auto parts store in the country. Its not a VW specific proprietary design cap which is nice to know if for some reason I’m on the road and have the cap fail I can replace it fairly easily at any auto parts store.

This makes me wonder if there isn't a market for a screw-on fitting that takes a generic FLAPS radiator cap but allows you to keep your old tank, if you want to. The OEM caps can run as much as $50: I would expect an adaptor/fitting to be less than that, much less than the $245 RMW tank and you can still visually inspect your fluids, if that's your thing. _________________ Currently -> Frida: 87 Tizian Red (mostly) Vanagon GL Westfalia w/ 2.0L ABA conversion
