Hi guys, I’m looking for a source for a gas tank out of a 1960 beetle. Previous owner sealed inside of tank with something and it’s dissolving in the fuel. Chunks are peaking off and going through system. Thought about having it cooked and professionally done but it’s expensive. Thought I would just replace it but having hard time finding that era tank. |

There are a number of "hump" gas tanks for sale in theSamba classifieds that are correct for your car. Correct is a 1956-1960 tank, older tanks will fit but not look quite right. Here is my search. You cannot seem to buy a new "hump" style tank, but the older type is available and fits your opening correctly. Here is one for sale at CIP1 (just the first place I saw them, other shops sell them too.) _________________

Check out/call Avery’s Air Cooled in WA. They had some hump backs a few years back when I was still picking parts for my ‘60. Really friendly!
Shipping is going to be a bear, but you might be stuck. The one in the classifieds looks to have been patched, and that would drive me crazy. _________________ Plate of shrimp |
