Hi,
Fitting the exhaust to the engine and noticed the head is broke we’re the bolt threads in. Is there a temporary fix I can do?

pull the head, tig it and drill a new hole then tap it to put the stud in.

| I don’t have a tig.. I have a mig though. How about some sort of metal weld? |

JB Weld will last for awhile. Get the area super clean ( carburetor cleaner,water,then alcohol ), and let it dry and set up for at least 3 days. I would then drill and tap the hole for a smaller bolt ( not a stud and nut ) and install once and only once. Best of luck

aluminum requires a neutral gas like argon around the weld. I've welded cracks up in T1 heads. They are aluminum. The problem is that area gets too hot for anything but a weld. That or find another head.

I can’t see any other fix than doing a top end overhaul

I wonder if there's room to sneak a thin nut down in behind that from above?, you'd have to lift the tin (which might require almost as much work as prepping for a head swap) unless you can pry it up enough in place.
