I just bought a VW Thing from Canada and intend to import it into the US. For California, I have to show EPA certification but wanted to know if Canadian and US 1974 Things are the same. If so, is there a site somewhere to reference this?

Has anyone else tried importing one into California?

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

Depends where it was made, Mexico or Germany and what year. Should be a metal plate in the trunk area.

It looks like it was built in Mexico in 1974

Thanks again for the help!

Any suggestions on how I can find something I can show to the DMV to verify they are truly the same spec between the US and Canadian version?
