Wifey was super nice and let me do some wrenching today, even though it was Mother’s Day. I got both caster nuts loose and all the lug nuts loose then I put it on 4 jack stands. After I got it on the stands I pulled the wheels, MC and booster. MC will be replaced with a new one and I’m gonna send the booster out to be rebuilt. I’m hoping to get the booster in the mail one day this week. After laying on my back for awhile pulling the MC and the front shocks, I was done laying on the ground. So I started on the wheels, I got two of them cleaned up with the wire wheel and shot some primer on them. Couldn’t go any further because both my drill batteries were dead and dinner was ready. One step at a time I guess.

You deserve some 3/4" plywood for fathers day! I just detest working in the dirt ( yet seem to have to it all the time despite 2 garages ). Nice crusty stuff, I hope you can find a good MC. I have taken to rebuilding the OG ATE stuff rather than trust any of the aftermarket brands. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

I do lay on a carpet but it’s no match for the gravel driveway. To day I got 2 packed boxes of parts, woot! Manfred, in one of the boxes was a original ATE MC. Sure is pretty.
MC
This box has some good shit in it!

NOS ATE!! Oh, I got wood for sure. Good choice and lucky score. I just rebuilt one for my 60 SC, brakes so nice. I respect ATE parts above all other outsourced parts ( German Mahle is a close second ). _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Neither the MC or bearings are NOS they are both NS (new stock) and I’m stoked to have them! _________________ __________

I’m gonna run the patina look with this bus, but I am gonna clean it up a bit. First I’m gonna scrub it using CLR and water solution. Then wash it, compound it and wax it. It needs both dog legs, outer rockers and a few other spots patched. Those can wait, but the holes to the interior will be repaired. If and when the exterior panels get replaced I’m gonna spray paint them and attempt to color sand them. But that way in the future.
Recently I cleaned the rims, primed and painted them. Tomorrow morning I’m gonna head to the tire shop and have the new tires mounted. I sprayed down the undercarriage with the hose and got a lot of loose stuff off. Next I’ll wire wheel it, prime and undercoat it. I sent out the booster, should get that back next week. And...the transaxle is just about finished!!! Which is great cause my CB order is showing up tomorrow and it’s engine build time, woot woot!!!
I wasn’t expecting it to be painted, but stoked about it!

Did you get FAG rear wheel bearings as well? I’ll be interested to see how they fit. _________________ If you haven't bled on them, you haven't worked on them.

FAG front and rear bearings. I used FAG on The Bone Bus and they were great, both with instillation and in use. I did freeze them and heated the housing before instillation. _________________ __________

Nice. I think I have some NOS FAG rears. If I don’t , I think I’ll get a set just in case. Didn’t think they were available. Can I ask where you got them from? I didn’t think PPI sold to the public. _________________ If you haven't bled on them, you haven't worked on them.

I recall from your other posts. You are a not a fan of the early cabinetry and table because it was a waste of space. I call dibs on the icebox unit and table. _________________ Keep on Busin'

I don’t dislike all the cabinetry, it’s the sink/icebox I don’t like. To me it is a waste of space and I won’t be reinstalling it. I am going to use the rest of the cabinets and installing my table with the mural on it. I am thinking about taking the spice rack/small table off the icebox and installing that on the bulk head behind the passenger seat. _________________ __________

CB order came in and it’s straight VW porn!!! Still waiting on the heads, I was told there’s a 2 week wait to get the CNC ported. That’s coolio with me.
CB case, hotness!!!
3.5mm off set, with 5.6 rods and 8.5. Woot!
Spanish IDFs with the CB linkage and stacks, fucking Christmas I tell ya.
Full rings are builders choice
Completed transaxle is the money shot, yoke and all!

TBH I don’t know. Builders choice and I have yet to ask, but he was all about it. My guess is that it gives a total seal and lets nothing by. What does Skills have to say???!!??? _________________ __________
