Any one know if hwe or bekowa made racks that fit behind the pop top of so42 campers?

Yes, both heavy duty German short racks we have on the panel are 52" from clamp to clamp outer edge.

Got a few interesting results with a search of the Gallery for " SO-42 roof rack", but nothing heavy duty.

Think you are just going to need to get a custom one done up. Have heard of one roof rack maker that will ship the rack pieces for one to weld together, if you do not have someone making racks near you.

Also do look up "Quik - N- Easy" out of Monrovia, California. They make roof rack parts that are modular so you can make something you can use and not cost a lot.

Good question I have been looking for the same one myself. Based on my research HWE/Bekowa never made a roofrack to fit behind a westy poptop. As I recall the length would need to be no longer than 40" or so.

However there are a number of people selling repop HWE style roofracks, which would allow you to make any size you wanted. "EZcamper" was selling complete kits and the parts for them, I think "Rusties" was selling them too and likely others as well.

Long story short you are probably going to have to get a one off one made. If you have a westy with the rooftop tent brackets say 1965- early 66 make sure the tent poles can still be installed with the rack on otherwise you will need to take the rack off each time you want to use the tent!

this seems like a major upgrade to me from the 'basket' racks, but I guess thats a matter of preference. This is a custom made rack which is 36" long.
