I know that there are a bunch of threads about this, but they're all old and I don't want to bump a 5 year old thread, for some reason, people don't like it.
'69 IRS, from what I've read, it's all pretty straight-forward, remove circlips, tap them out, clean every freakin thing, tap new packed bearings back in.
My rear outer bearing, the roller, the center part of the bearing is pretty much free and can come loose. I've seen pictures of this and it seems normal.
My question is this: After I install the newly-packed bearings and seals, I then install the stub axle, what happens to this freely-moving inner race? Do I tap it in after stub axle install? It just seems super weird to me.
Also, any caveats would be welcome, I haven't done rear bearings in ~15 years.
Thanks for your time!

The spacer has to go in before the outer bearing. It sits between the inner race of both bearings

As the stub axle is going in from the back, I slide that race on the axle and push it into the bearing as I push the stub axle in all the way. Keeps the spacer 'pipe' from coming thru the bearing.
