Good afternoon, quick question for those that are interested. I have been trying to get the brake lights on my 1961 type 1 to work again. My bug has been converted to 12 volt. All the other lights (running, turn signals) work great but my brake lights stopped functioning a year or so ago. I am at the point where I have turned to replacing the brake light sensor on the end of the master cylinder as I am not sure what else it could be. Do I need to bleed my brakes after replacing the sensor? Thanks in advance. |

You may get lucky -- I was certain the brake switch on the master cylinder was bad on my '63, got ready to bleed the system, replace the switch, and it turned out the wire terminals were bad and replacing them fixed everything. |

It's not clear whether you've already done so or not, but before replacing the switch I'd be inclined to pull the two wires off and touch them together to see if the lights come on. If they don't, check to see if you're getting power to the switch and that you have good continuity back to the lamp sockets. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |
