Just got done fixing this, but wondering if its something unique. I know about normal shift rods being 44 or 47 inches, and this one measured 44 socket to hole centers. BUT, it was about 1/2" short. The owner or someone had just slid teh coupler forward and used a set screw to kind of hold it in place. I modified a coupler by adding the set screw tube section from another coupler (welded it on) and it works fine.

Obvious thing would be the transaxle is too far back. Nope - we just installed new mounts and everything lined up as it should. Modified shift rod? Nope. Looks totally stock and I had measured it.

Like I said, its fixed and probably sending the car home tomorrow, but am curious if anyone has seen this before.

My understanding is the standard length for a late is 44" from socket center to bolt hole center....and that is what it is....

Its not a big deal. I have made the mod and it works just fine....
