I'm sure it's already been asked. But what is your intention for the car that you are looking for?

A show car, Mild performer, Rad performer, Resto-mod, daily driver for those hours long commutes down 880 from Oakland to Fremont, or just something that you can enjoy on the weekends that is trouble free?

That is indeed a good candidate.

But once again the cheap rubber around the front and rear windscreens.

But other than that issue. It looks like an honest add and a good car.
I paid 6K for my current 67. And it was not as nice as that car.

Go have a look. It's in your city anyway.
You wanna dicker a bit with the owner? Mention the window rubbers.
But he may tell you to GFYS.

Good Luck.

I already test drive it Smile I’m negotiating on the price with the seller... by the way these rubbers are not big deal? I can change it right? And they are not expensive?

A knowledgeable friend and a couple of hours on a weekend. Job done!
The above will make that car stand out among all the crap cars in the area!

It will take longer then a couple hours just to put the rubber and trim on to the windows, but it can be done. The only thing I really don`t care for on that car is the non original color. But that's just preference.

Nah, a couple of hours is about right, but you’ll probably want to do one window per weekend, your hands will be sore & start cramping after the first one.

What you think about this one:
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/1965-vw-bug/6673206472.html

It looks repainted but not to the original color? The interior color is different than exterior?
Let me know your thought on this one?

WTF is up with those over-riders? They appear a bit too big.
Bumpers are missing the upper supports.
Front fenders don't match.
Horrible attempt at restuffing cheap ass foam into cheap ass seat covers.
Cheesy FLAPS steering wheel cover probably hiding cracked steering wheel.
Support spring missing from engine lid, possible tearing at mount point.
Gagtastic '80s mailorder "Volkswagen" script nailed to dash.
Aftermarket door cards potato-chipped from lack of vapor barrier.
These are just the immediate thing that jump out.

You are the best.... thanks for paying attention to the details ... I really appropriate you... this is what I wanted to hear before I go for a test drive.

Did you ever look at/drive this one? To me, that looks like a car that has been well cared for. It is not perfect but it does not scream "hacked by someone who doesn't know VW's" like the shiny ones do.

X2. I see wrong-year seat covers and door cards, but not much else to pick at. I usually prefer a survivor to someone else's resto-mod. Looks to be quite a bit cheaper, too.

What you think?

The bumper is not stock...

I think both are fine if they check out. My preference would be for the '64, since it is closer to stock. Both look pretty good, but I'd want to crawl underneath both and look for rust before selecting.

X2. I have stated this a few times in the PM'S we have exchanged.
If I was looking for a as near to stock pre 67 as possible.
This would be the car for me!

But, it's not my money to spend. So you have to make the final decision on weather you can live with this car or that.

Good Luck.
