And.. it changed again after 72.. Not sure..why.. maybe for the green house glass Super Beetle implementation.
I don't fool with many past 67.. cause.. for years. I thought VW stopped building cars after that. Laughing

68-72 111-711-155F
and
73-79 111-711-155G

" From 1968 to 1972, the shift rod measures 45-1/8 inches long. In 1973, VW moved the shifter position back a small amount and from 1973 to 1979, the shift rods where 43-5/8 inches long overall (41-11/16 inches Center of cup to center of pin hole)".

No one reproduces the 65-67 or the 68-72..
Most "modify" a Universal Buggy/Rail shaft if needed.

In reality... how many really need replacement anyway ... very few..

kind of the other way around. For 1968 model year they moved the shift lever towards the rear and the shift rod got shorter at that time.

Just did some research in this and don't remember the details. What year did the length change from 44 to 47"?

And, FYI, the shift rod/coupler changed about a quarter of the way into model year 1964.

Yes,, the 65-67 shift rod and coupler will interchange and directly replace the 56-64 rod and coupler.

Is it possible to swap out a 64 and earlier shift rod and install an 65 and later rod in the same pan? I parted out a 65 years ago with the newer style coupler (at the back) and want to use it in a 63 pan.
