Thanks, guys!
We’re safe so far. A little nervous, though.
We live in east Redding, and the fire keeps going north and west. Although, last night it shifted to the south.
In 2005, we moved from a rural area near Redding, to inside the city limits. We made the move because of two big fires that burnt many homes in our rural area. Now we live in the middle of the city in a sub-division with a fire hydrant directly across the street. Living inside the city proper helps with the nerves quite a bit.
The firefighters are saving many homes, but 500 have burned so far, and the list keeps growing. The evacuated downtown once again. My wife and daughter work down there, but the building they work in are all stone with few trees or brush around.
All we can do is wait.
Thanks again,
Tim _________________ Let's do the Time Warp again!

Just saw this in the Washington Post. Looks like someone lost a convertible. And what I'm thinking used to be a 914? Sad sight, and I'm sure there are lots of others.

Wild land fires are very dangerous. If they say get out, get out. I survived the Rodeo~Chediski 2002 Arizona. That fire was so wild in one day it burned 70,000 acres. Crazy. Wow on the burned vert and 914. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

This might be a different view of the same vert.
Artistic yes. Frightening as well.
This one was found embedded in a NewsWeek aticle
We are having wildland fires here in Oregon too. The air outside is full of residual smoke from fires hundreds of miles away.
Be careful everyone. _________________ I have learned over the years.

The fire is called the "Carr Fire" which when heard on TV just as they showed a burned out VW, I thought, "Oh my god, a plastic fuel filter fire destroyed 500 homes and killed several!" but that wasn't the case... I THINK... because they do say they think a vehicle fire started the blaze. Stay tuned...

Now we all understand why I had my 1970 towed by AAA 20 miles back to my place last Friday, after the gas tank started leaking. I "probably" could have driven home OK, but I sure didn't want to start a 20-mile Arizona fire !!!! _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. They said on the news today that there is no such thing as CA fire season anymore. It's year round. _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

That is awful!!! I heard some reports from firefighters that fires are burning so hot ( hotter than previously recorded) that responders have a hard time saving property compared to past events.
There is no end to the "fire season" now. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |
