Hi all,
I have a single port 1916 type engine that I’d like to convert to electronic fuel injection. Has anyone out there done this before? I’m finding it hard to find the correct parts and ‘how to’ on the internet. Lots of stuff out there for dual port just not single port. Thanks for your help.

Stock VW/Bosch FI was one injector per cylinder, tough to do with single port heads! You might find some throttle body injection made for the same manifold as those awful progressive replacement carbs (though those were mostly/all for center sections for dual port intake manifolds), and make a system work. not sure why you would want to, though...

I agree, why work so hard to get a larger displacement engine, to choke the life out of it by running a single port head? EFI as a single port flat engine is going to be even more of a challenge, as there is about zero backing on it. If say just swap to DP heads, and save the hassle.

Actually... a stroker single port might change your tune a little about that. Wink

Are you able to do a little bit of fabrication and welding or know someone who can? If you're willing to use aftermarket EFI like Megasquirt or something I should think it's quite doable. May be interesting trying to tune it since you'd need to feed two cylinders with one injector.

My idea would be to weld an injector bung into a stock single port manifold and use either a single barrel carb as the throttle body on each side or maybe a motorcycle TB?

Let us know how it goes, maybe do a project thread. This one sounds interesting if you decide to do it.

You're probably looking at a hell of a lot of fabbing, but I'll bet that thing is a stump puller
