... never saw a round-tool box for a wheel without hub cap clips - never looked though - Hazet Tourist was for early VW and Porsche... if anything, bet it would be VW box.
I see one in the 1968- parts classifieds... might be similar - bet you could make one

... have a picture of the back of the box, for reference? Sure would like to see how it's mounted- almost looks like a pre-66 wheel, with clips and not a clip-less 1966 and later wheel.

1966-later tool kits come with a flat rectangular bar for attaching to the spare wheel. The flat bar is ribbed for added strength. Bar is attached to the tool kit via (2) carriage bolts and a pair of wing nuts. Bar and tool kit sandwich the spare wheel. You can see the head of one of the carriage bolts in this photo-

| My mid to late '50s kit actually snuggled into a '66 wheel and stayed there good enough. Sorry, no photos, because I recently sold the kit. |
