|
|
Dear All,
I need to replace the front and rear brakes and possibly also the master cylinder on my '90 Golf Country Syncro. Is anyone aware of a source for replacement parts in North America? I have found a few listings in Europe but am looking for something closer to home.
Many thanks for your help,
Jed |

You might do better posting this in the water cooled section but...
Knowing VWs tendency to make their cars rather incestuous, & my experience with some of the interchangeability, if your car has 10" front rotors, try sourcing & comparing front & rear brake pads from a 1988 16v Scirocco or Golf GTI 16V. If it has 11" front rotors, try sourcing pads & rotors from a 1990 Corrado G-60. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Your front brakes are standard 9.4 brakes. Front flex hoses are longer than standard. I've done a 10.1 upgrade on a country before. Used the Mk3 front flex hoses too, if memory serves me right. The rear I'm not sure on. But, take off a drum , measure inside dimensions. Shouldn't be a biggie to find parts for it. Any compotent VW specialist should be able to recognize whats on it. Drums will probably be syncro specific. You could always just flip it to discs. I believe the country rear control arms do have the ears for mounting a pad carrier. So , youd just need rear syncro discs ( easily available in Canada) and 2wd calipers would work just fine along with 2wd rear pads. Cables could be an issue. But maybe finangle somthing with B3 2wd or syncro rear cables. _________________ 85 2wd Doka ABA In progress
