I have a question regarding heater channel repair vs replacement. In an exploded view of the VW body I see that there "seems" to be inner and outer heater channel pieces that be purchased or one can order a complete channel.

So, the front 3rd of my driver side channel has had the green weenie. Is feasible or reasonable to expect the I could order an inner and outer channel pcs and just cut and stitch the part I need or, is it easier ( more labor effective) in the long run to just replace the entire channel/
.

The body is coming of the pan and new Dansk floor pans will be installed.

Any suggestions or referral to threads greatly appreciated.

There's the bottom plate ,the top part and then the tubing inside for the entire heater channel assembly. Patch pieces include parts of the top piece or the whole bottom plate to my knowledge.

Well if the body is coming off you can cut the bottom of the channel off and see if that is all that is needed. Brace the body first. If all the pan bolts are rusted enough to need a impact wrench you are gonna have a long "fun" project. I though I'd only need the bottom and rocker. Full channel was going to be far more solid. not easier just solid. And get the Dansk channels. CIP sells them. Klokkerholm panels are meh.. but the channels are light and cheaply made.
Great write up on quality difference.
