| Hey, I'm new here, and new to VW's in general. There's a guy near me selling a 1964 what I think is a 21 window vw bus. I was curious what are the common things I should look for when I go to see it. He says its mostly original, and has minor rust. inside looked beat. he's asking $8000. What do you think, can you help me out? thanks |

If it's minor rust, that's super cheap for a 21-Window.
I would look for rust on the floors,the area under the rear cargo doors, and the battery tray in rear right corner first. Those are the most common areas.
Also look underneath for rust and to make sure it has "belly pans":
If it doesn't have those, it might not be a real 21-Window.
The trashed interior doesn't really matter but if has all the seats that is important as they can get expensive these days.
Does it run and drive?

Well, this will surely get everyone wound up. The OP may have actually had the opportunity, and passed it up... 
The kicker is, I drive through this area to work everyday, and yes, I did reply, as did 100+ others I'm sure....
And no, I haven't heard back.
