I have two intake manifolds for my singleport 1500CC engine (H engine code so it’s cleaely not OG to my ‘64)

This manifold was on the engine. Big hose with a bolt on the end on the nipple to the right. This manifold has holes in the heat risers from rust

A member from the forum gave me this manifold to use. I need to clean out the heat risers. No holes from rust.

My main question is, what are the pipe nipples for? Big and small

I’m wondering if I do not need the smaller nipple if I can cut it off and weld it shut.

They were used for a vacuum source for brake booster (bus), emissions (idle solenoid) and/or autostick clutch diaphragm.

Big pipe = vacuum takeoff for an Autostick or the brake booster on a Bus.

Small pipe = vacuum takeoff for altitude compensator or throttle positioner.

Excellent. Thank you

I’m going to use the intake with the small pipe nipple and if I don’t need it I’ll block off the nipple with a piece of rubber hose
