I have a 71 super with riviera rims, could I swap out the lug nut setup for lug bolts? Do the longer ones fit or unsafe?
What length would I need if possible?

It is your engineering project & you have wheels to measure/test fit etc Measure and order some Mercedes style trial sizes of wheel hardware from etc.

You want to replicate the thread engagement of the Original VW Hardware.
Take a standard steel wheel out of your trunk, put a standard VW lug bolt through it.
Now measure how much of the bolt protrudes from the back side of the wheel.
Now stick the same bolt through your mag wheel, if it does not protrude the same amount than you need to order a bolt that does protrude the same as the stock set up.

Lug nuts and studs work the same way kinda. The stud needs to be long enough to pass through the hub, drum, wheel, and lug nut, with about 2-3 stud threads exposed.

You also have to learn the difference between ball seat, and conical seat
