I only have my last two drop offs of 24 total and I’m not quite sure what will happen after that.... _________________ .ssS! |

Yeah, I did a Sachs full kit on the 944 last summer and agree - beautiful workmanship, obvious high end materials, some nice design like your pic displays, quality packaging, etc. Like if Apple did clutch kits....
Abscate - unbelievable. I know exactly (well as much as possible) what you mean. I never thought about how the kiddo thing ends, either. _________________ 1987 2WD Wolfsburg Vanagon Weekender "Mango", two fully locked 80 Series LandCruisers. 2017 Subaru Outback boxer. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V with rear locking differential, 1990 burgundy parts Vanagon. 1984 Porsche 944, 1988 Toyota Supra 5 speed targa, 2002 BMW 325iX, 1982 Toyota Sunrader |

OK so what’s happening?
2:23pm and he’s suckin’ oil back into the transaxle.
Using jumper cables to reverse the Weddle oilpump.
This means I’m almost ready to roll.

Tom, (can't believe I'm saying this, but...) I've heard you may be shortening the life of your tranny by running dirty gear oil...???
Sorry, it had to be said...

Dang, we probably crossed paths somewhere on 101, we were there the week before heading north!
Glad you got it sorted, couldn’t hardly find a better location to breakdown away from home. Vanagon city for sure, didn’t get a wave out a couple of ‘em _________________ '91 Westfalia, Bordeaux Red Pearl 2.1L 2wd Auto

Dirtier transmission fluid helps the trans last longer, seems legit. |

Stopped in San Jose for lunch, gonna go under the van with hdenter’s torque wrench (!!!) after the pavement cools off.
Who’s betting that 182 miles later, all 12 CV bolts will be at 36ft-lbs (=49nm)? _________________

I'm in, will love hearing if/how much they de-torque.
Then we deserve details on Hans' drive up to bring the torque wrench back.

Lubrication Engineers Synolec 9919, 17,000 miles (27.000 km) never been over 145F 63C) ultra filtered. There’s an entourage of Vanagons following me back to Seattle for my oil, each think they’re getting 1st dibs but Im gonna settle it, see if the dark drops out. _________________

Thanks for reporting back.
What exactly "settles" to make them loosen at all?
Wondered this about CV bolts for some time now... _________________ ‘84 Westy, 2.1L with Digijet, 5.43 R+P, GT Gears
