Hi all,

I have a 74 with an 1800 with stock 34 PDSIT's that I'd like to replace with dual IDF 40's.

Perhaps a dumb question (but can't seem to find the answer), what of the existing central idling circuit and the balance pipe once swapped? Are they removed? Plugged? Or do I need to tap some intakes in the manifolds for them? I know I need to tap intakes in the manifold for the brake booster.

Thanks!

Sean

You won't need either. The central idling is a solex thing, the balance pipe is only needed for single barrel carbs. One tap for the booster is all you need, VW tapped into the balance pipe for the booster because it was neat and tidy. I reused the balance pipe for booster for my dells because it was tidy, but it just adds more confusion to tuning so I removed it later and now just use one take off.
