The correct part number for the rear shocks,BOGE telescopic is 111 513 031B.They should be a brown colour.
That is what my NOS set are anyway.
Hope this helps.

YUP that is the number...in fact I am the fellow that sold NOS guy his shocks. I do have one NOS rear shock left as well as a pair of 10 year old repops in the classifieds. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=614005

I've recently bought these. Will be arriving next week I hope.
Shocks 111 513 031. |
I am pretty darn sure if you are in need of rears you want 111 513 031 B...I think the B is pretty important and designates a different shock _________________ Samba Member #95 |

The ones I've bought are for the front I guess? |
From 1955 parts book:
Rear
111 513 031 up to ch nr 397 022
111 513 031 B up to ch nr 397 022
I do not know what the difference of the parallel models is but IŽd go for the first types without the letter in the part number.
Front nr is 111 413 031. Fronts are black and rears red if they are original VW.

Does anyone have the specs on these, in order to find a matching generic shock? I don't feel like paying $600 for a set of generic shocks. _________________ -Thom

They are so small there is not really a generic shock out there available right now that I know of myself. There possibly is something obscure like from a Scoda or mini or something that might be kinda close...somewhere....maybe LOL
The ones I had for sale...one red NOS VW and the aftermarket black pair were "generic" shocks available from Monroe years and years ago (10-15) but have since been discontinued. Those had identical specs...
and were for some weird car and quite expensive like $50 each at the time. Sorry to say I have a sale pending (though no payment yet)....I would put up the measurements but they are already packaged.
I did sell another red NOS VW set to NOSBOY maybe he can put up the specs...?

Both. For all I know mine are original. The fronts are rusted all the way through in spots. _________________ -Thom
