Few months ago I bought this 1973 Volkswagen ea489.
It have been its first years in Finnish car factory, as a model to Teijo, VW based pick up truck and after that in gas station as somesort of service car for 1980-88
And now after 10600km (6800ml) on odo, under restoration.
Does anyone seen one before? Smile

I just need some photos... Engine bay and interior.. Help, anyone? Very Happy

Finstrer, kiitos vinkistä mutta on sama auto...

That was from my car, old picture but same.. original interior and enginebay pictures needed.. few modifations have been made back in '80s and now I'm trying to undo them. But just don't know how to..

The basic difference between your truck and an a Hormiga is the mounting of the engiine. In my Hormiga the engine is mounted like a traditional Bug - engine in the rear and transmission in the front. In your truck the engine is in the front and the transmission is in the rear. Ring gear flipped? This is the reason for the front access panel. The Hormiga has no heater, I hope yours has one. Both are front wheel drive with off the shelf and special parts - a real puzzle.

The Hormiga is very unique and perfect for rural areas.

This one have a heater, only that interior is all steel so...
Is it originally, that I am not sure. Few modifications have been made in early 80's.
There is something really wrong about this car.. it is '73 but these have been made '75 to '79 🤔

I didn't realize these were front engine vehicles! Do they use a standard trans-axle with a flipped R&P? Do the exhaust pipes poke out the front of the bumper?

Im not sure yet about that, but I think that it is just like that. But, can't say for sure yet.
Yes, front engines, front wheel drive..
Exhauspipe curves back, ends up in middle of chassis. Muffler is like beetle's muffler, only that pipe starts left side of that.. I have pictures of that, i try to find those...!
