The Volkswagen SP2 is a model developed and produced solely by Volkswagen of Brazil in the early 1970s.

Only about 12,000 vehicles have been sold, few of them to other countries, and after more than 40 years, it is getting harder to find some for sale than for absurd values.

I found and bought mine in 2017 in my city and, after a beginning of restoration that did not work very well, I decided to abandon the originality and make some changes so that it would be my taste and represent a true sports car.

I decided to use TheSamba to document the development of my project based on Volkswagen SP2.

You can follow the development of the new VW SP2R motor in the topic below:
A new motor for my VW SP2

Here are some pictures I took when I found it, in early 2017.
It did not look too bad, especially considering we are in a seaside town with plenty of sea air.

Beautiful car! Looks to be very well made with lots of attention to detail.

Hard to tell the size from the pictures, is the SP2 the same size or larger the the Puma GTS/GTi?

Cheers

Thank you! A lot of detais, especially in the bodywork, which made it a very expensive car at the time

The SP2 is a bit longer (approximately 20 cm / 8 inches) and about the same width as the Puma GTS

Testing the chrome process to renew some parts.
Much better, but I think I prefer matte finish.

That is some wide tireage going on there!😀 I was curious too if your pedal assy was spray on chrome or other? The closer I look at it , it's not bad at all. Cool man.😀

Sorry I didn't respond to your question before.
The pedals where sent to a professional shop. They were not just sprayed. Actually I think it was too expensive, considering I asked for a matte finish.
