Yep still slowly moving forward on the 10 yr parked Squareback. The engine went in the other day. It started and ran, however the stock carbs are in need of attention. Puking fuel. I do have a buddy with two additional sets of the stock carbs. So will be able to pick the best of the 6 carbs.
A) rebuild two of them OR
B) send them to Volkbiz
If I choose A who out there sells the top shelf best ever complete rebuild kits?
Bite a much bigger expense and send them to Volkbiz.
Input and honest opinions.

I'd probably send them to Volkbiz, and while he has them, have him change the fuel inlet tubes (brass pipe) to his threaded in model.
A friend of mine had him do his Ghia carb, and that thing looks like brand new and preforms like it too. Very Happy

Well so far speaking a few VW guys... it is a split decision at this point.
4 say pick the best of the carbs and do them yourself
4 say send em to Mr. Volkzbiz and be done with it.
So keep the tally and input coming...feel free to ask.

I've had Tim @ Volksbitz rebuild three sets of PDSIT carburetors - they are pretty much ready to go when I get them back. He's expensive but it's been worth it for me to be able to pop them on the engine, make minor adjustments and move on to the next thing.

You will want to make sure you send a 'matched' set of carburetors to him - not all PDSIT carbs are the same. There are numbers on the spine of the float bowls that tell you what version they are - you can match those numbers to the chart to tell you if you have a matched set.

Oh My those carbs look like no old stock carbs. Was any warranty guarantee come with them?

I have no idea if there's a specific warranty - once they're rebuilt - there's very little that can go wrong. Tim is good about offering advice about how to adjust them if you run into issues.

Just a side note: The chokes were not included - I installed NOS chokes when the carburetors came back.

Solex rebuild kit is Walker 15552A according to Russ Wolfe. I wrote his various recommendations down in the front of my Autopress 65-70 1600 Fastback manual I found at www.books4cars.com in Seattle.
