I'm trying to decide if I should go with the factory color, or something else. Anyone want to take a stab at guessing the original color of this 57? Obviously it was repainted a gross blue in the 60s, but I think the interior and other spots are original paint. I believe the original interior was red also, but I guess that could have been changed at some point.
It could be L378 Prairie Beige?? I'm not sure! It just doesn't look close to Prairie Beige or L324 Polar Silver (both came with red leatherette) to me. Maybe it's just the age of the paint throwing me off? I can't figure it out, but maybe it's obvious to someone else. Thanks in advance for any help!
I'm trying to get cross country shipping sorted out for it now, but hopefully it will make it here soon and I can finally get started on this project! |

To me it looks like polar silver, bleached by sun. |

The more I look at it, I think you're all right. The interior paint seems to have such a warm tint to it. It threw me off. Maybe years of being smoked in made the paint in there gross! The original owner most have smoked enough to install a lighter in the dash... One more hole to weld up!
Polar Silver is a great color, and despite seeming to be a pretty common choice I think we are leaning toward going with it. Time to get a rendering done!
Here's a nice example from the gallery.
Thanks for your input guys. I'll have to start a build thread (It will be a slow build...) when I get shipping details figured out.

I love the polar silver color. Depending on the lighting the color looks different.
Here's my 56

My Polar Silver, pretty sure that is what you have, take some rubbing compound to the inside of the glove box door, see what it looks like _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story
