Very interesting. I've been thinking about ways to modify my air intake for some noise reduction in my Bus conversion.

Is that air filter housing a stock Vanagon Diesel part? I'm not super familiar with Vanagon diesels really.

What do you have the TDI MAF mounted to? Mounting that thing to something has been part of my hangup with this -I've never considered having it placed separate from the air filter box with a hose in between. Creative solution! But I'd like to know how it is now mounted/supported.

Thanks for sharing!

My MAF sensor is clamped in-line. No support or bracket. No issues for many miles.

I just ordered a Donaldson which I will be installing below the driver side pillar, on the outside of the entire engine bay. I would've gone with a TD filter if they were available over here.

I'd say that is supported by the hoses. Just doesn't need additonal support.

This is great--not something I'd thought about at all. I guess I just figured it had to be bolted to the air filter box.

Yes it's an OE fitment for 1.6 TD Engine

The AMF is clamped to the Alternator bracket.

Hinged protection cover for the Air filter lid.

AMF can be placed between Air filter Box & Turbo inlet, not necessarily into the Air filter Box.
